PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The Portland metro area now has a new resource to help with projects that benefit our community.

The Portland Community ToolBank held it's grand opening in NE Portland on Thursday.

The new 10,000 square-foot warehouse is south of the airport. It has more than $100,000 in tools to loan out to local non-profit groups. Organizations can rent the tools at a very low cost.

Mark Brodbeck, the CEO of ToolBank U.S.A. said having all these tools at your disposal will increase the potential of Portland area groups looking to improve our community.

"No matter the size of your project, the toolbank has got you covered. In fact, the toolbank is a bit of a challenge to the local community to step it up even further. If you're got a special event with impact and more tools can help you double, it's on. Try it out, there's some great tools in there and a challenge to Portland to really put out the volunteers," said Brodbeck.

FOX 12's own Wayne Garcia was on hand to help open the toolbank. He has volunteered his time and is on the board of directors.
