Police: One person dead after shooting in SE Portland

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland Police responded to a shots fired call around 8:01 p.m. on Friday, and the case is now a homicide investigation.

When police arrived to the area of SE 132nd Avenue and Bush Street they found one person injured by gunfire. That victim has since died.

Officers from the PPB Special Emergency Reaction Team and Crisis Negotiation Team are in the area and are searching for the suspect.

The officers blocked traffic on SE Powell from 122nd Avenue to 136th Avenue after 10:00 p.m. for several hours to investigate the area.

Police said the suspect is a unknown race male with light-colored skin in his 30s, 5'6", and a medium build.

Residents in the area are being asked to remain in their homes and call 911 if they see or hear anything suspicious.

People trying to access the area will either be told to wait outside the investigation perimeter or just turned away.

Police have reopened southeast Powell boulevard as of Saturday morning.
