A man was arrested Friday in connection to a robbery at a US Bank earlier this month, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s office.

Officials say neighbors recognized Steven Eric Lewis Jennings, 35, in the Orchards area of Vancouver and called 911.

Officers had recently been in the area, so the house Jennings was in was quickly surrounded, and he was ordered to surrender.

After refusing to surrender peacefully, police went in and found he was likely hiding underneath the house in a very small crawl space.

Police reported that the K-9 unit, his handler, and two detectives went to find Jennings and went under the house came upon broken water pipes.

The K-9 unit then located the suspect at the furthest point away from the opening.

To reach Mr. Jennings, detectives had to crawl from one end of the house to the other.

Police say detectives were unable to evacuate Mr. Jennings the way they had crawled in, so the Vancouver Fire Department had to make a hole in the floor to get Jennings and the detectives out.

Jennings was transported to the hospital to get medically cleared prior to being transported to a local jail.

Officials say Jennings is now in jail charged with robbery in the first degree.
