Man killed by hit-and-run driver in SE Portland; suspect on the loose

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a driver who took off after the crash early Sunday morning at Southeast 29th and Stark Street. 

Emergency crews responded at 2:06 a.m. and found a 34-year-old man suffering from traumatic injuries. He was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

Witnesses said the man was hit by a car that continued west on Stark Street without stopping.

The car is described as a white, mid-2000s, four-door Honda Civic. The license plate is similar to I-V-D-1-0-3-6 from an unknown state, according to police.

The car will possibly have front end damage and a broken windshield.

Witnesses described the driver as a white male with short, possibly blond hair.  

Anyone who sees the vehicle should immediately call 911.

The victim was identified by police Sunday afternoon as Christopher Brian Chandler.
