SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Two teens are accused of shooting at people in a vehicle in Salem on Sunday afternoon.

Police were called out to Hawthorne Street Northeast and Sunnyview Road Northeast at 12:40 p.m.

Investigators learned two teens, ages 13 and 14, were walking in the area when a vehicle with three adults inside approached them.

Words were exchanged, according to investigators, and the two teens both fired shots from handguns at the vehicle.

The driver sped away, hitting two other vehicles that were in the roadway at the time.

Both teens were located by officers and taken into custody. They were booked in the Marion County Juvenile Detention Facility on charges of attempted murder, unlawful use of a weapon and recklessly endangering another person.

They are facing Measure 11 charges, but their names were not immediately released by police.

Police said the incident is believed to be gang-related. There were no reports of any injuries.

Anyone with further information is asked to call the Salem Police Department at 503-588-6123
