PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police arrested a man who's suspected of being behind the wheel of a car that hit and killed a man in southeast Portland early Sunday morning.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Southeast 29th Avenue and Stark Street around 2 a.m. Sunday and found a man suffering from traumatic injuries.

The victim, later identified as Christoper Brian Chandler, 34, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Witnesses told police the man was hit by a White four-door Honda Civic that continued west on Stark without stopping.

Police said someone called police later Sunday to report seeing a car matching the description.

Officers found the suspect's car near Southeast 20th Avenue and Oak Street and located the car's owner, Frederick James Ryerson Jr., 20.

Police said they were able to establish probable cause that Ryerson was driving the car when it hit Chandler.

Ryerson was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run.

Police said Ryerson could face additional charges after his arraignment Monday.
