HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

An Oregon rape suspect who has been on the run for 25 years was arrested in Mexico, according to the U.S. Marshals Oregon Fugitive Task Force.

Paul Jackson was taken into custody Monday at a hotel in Guadalajara, Mexico by Mexican immigration authorities, with close assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service.

Jackson was indicted for rape and kidnapping by a Washington County grand jury on June 30, 1990. Hillsboro and Portland police also had several pending sexual assault cases against him.

Investigators said the 16-year-old victim was chained up for days, sexually abused and raped by Jackson and his half-brother Vance Roberts. She managed to escape and ran to Hillsboro police for help.

Detectives searched the home and said evidence of a previous similar sexual assault was found.

Both men fled before trial and were not heard from until 2006 when Roberts turned himself in to Hillsboro police. He is currently serving a 108-year prison sentence.

Jackson remained on the loose until Monday.

Jackson was recently featured on John Walsh's "The Hunt" on CNN and had been profiled several times on 'America's Most Wanted.'

Local investigators said leads have continued coming in through the years from around the U.S. and overseas.

Investigators recently developed information that led them to Guadalajara. When he was arrested, the U.S. Marshals Service said Jackson denied his identity. Investigators said he was using the alias Paul Bennett Hamilton and had apparently been living in Mexico for several years.

He will have formal judicial proceedings prior to being deported from Mexico and a date has not been scheduled for his return to Oregon.

Jackson also faces new charges for failure to appear in court on a warrant that was issued Feb. 7, 1991.
