HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

A Hillsboro neighborhood is concerned after a community mailbox blew up in the middle of the night. Now neighbors want to find out who’s behind it all.

Over the weekend, someone destroyed mailboxes along Drake and 68th.

When the explosion happened it burned so hot, it charred and even started to melt some of the mailboxes.

Right after the explosion, a neighbor heard someone banging on their door alerting them about the explosion.

“When I came out and looked at it I thought somebody set it on fire or there was something in the mailbox that exploded,” one
neighbor said.

Surveillance video from a neighbor shows a flash right before the explosion happened.

Nobody was hurt and the flames didn’t spread to anything else.

We reached out to the US Postal Service and a spokesperson couldn’t give us any more details to what happened, only that they’re investigating what took place this weekend.
