CORNELIUS, OR (KPTV) -

The car belonging to a missing Cornelius man was found abandoned blocking a driveway with the engine running near Hillsboro.

Deputies responded to the 32900 block of Southwest Plum Tree Court at 3 p.m. Saturday and found the 1994 Ford Taurus.

Detectives said the car was registered to 25-year-old Matthew Pugh. The ignition was "punched," meaning a screwdriver was required to stop and start the engine.

Friends told investigators that Pugh had previously damaged the ignition of his car.

There were also personal items in the car belonging to Pugh and another person, according to investigators.

Deputies contacted people who live with Pugh and learned he had not been seen or heard from since very early Saturday. He also had not shown up for work or contacted anyone close to him.

Detectives learned it is very unusual for Pugh to be out of contact with family and friends for an extended period of time.

Deputies said the case is being treated as suspicious. Washington County violent crimes detectives are assisting with the investigation.

Pugh is described as 5'8", 180 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. The clothing that he was wearing when he went missing is unknown.

Deputies are asking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Pugh to please call 503-846-2700.
