BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

A September 2014 shooting at a Beaverton apartment was ruled self-defense, the Washington County District Attorney's Office said Wednesday.

Police said Dallas Urig shot Amjad Alkofi on September 10, 2014 at the Birch Pointe Apartments on the 17500 block of Cornell Road.

Beaverton police say after a search of the area, Alkofi's body was later found in the west area of the apartment.

After their investigation, police found that Amjad Alkofiand Victor Gutierrez planned on robbing Dallas Urig and Kyle Hansen the night of the shooting.

Officials say Urig called 911 saying people were chasing him, shooting at him, and trying to kill him.

Beaverton police say Alkofi fired a shot at Kyle Hansen, then Urig returned fire and killed Alkofi.

When Victor Gutierrez was found, he admitted he was there when Amjad Alkofi was shot. He said that Dallas Urig just pulled out a gun and started shooting for no reason.

Victor Gutierrez later pleaded guilty to robbery in the second degree for his involvement in the case, and was sentenced to seventy months in prison.
