SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Officers thought they spotted a wanted man in Salem on Wednesday. They chased him through a hotel only to find out it was his identical twin brother carrying meth and a stolen gun, according to police.

The situation began at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday near Lansing and Market Street Northeast.

Police were following up on a possible sighting of 33-year-old Cesar Munoz, who is wanted for a parole violation. Officers believed they spotted him in the Red Lion Hotel parking lot.

When the officers attempted to contact him, the man ran into the hotel. The suspect was caught in a fitness room, but officers discovered it wasn't the Munoz they were looking for.

Police said it was his twin brother Saul Munoz, who was carrying methamphetamine and a stolen pistol.

Saul Munoz was booked in the Marion County Jail on charges of felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of meth, theft by receiving and interfering with a police officer.

Cesar Munoz remains on the loose. He is described as 5'11" and 185 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him should call 911.
