CORNELIUS, OR (KPTV) -

A Cornelius family is growing concerned after not hearing from their nephew, 25-year-old Matthew Pugh for almost a week.

He hasn’t been heard from since this past weekend, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s office.

Pugh’s aunt, Jolynne Simshaw, who helped raise her nephew, said it’s not like him not to check in or call. Simshaw says he had a troubled past with drugs and theft, but that he had been clean for the last two years.

“We all care about him dearly and want to bring him home. I know some people back slide, but I don’t believe he has,” says Simshaw.

His aunt also said he had recently moved into a transitional house and his family thought everything was fine.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said Pugh's car was discovered over the weekend at the 32900 block of Southwest Plum Tree Court with his 1994 Ford Taurus running and blocking a driveway.

Neighbors who spoke to FOX 12 said the car sat there running for a few hours.

Deputies are calling this case suspicious

Even though nobody has heard from him since last weekend, his family isn’t giving up hope.

His aunt wants Pugh to know this, “We love him no matter what we want to keep positive and just come home.”

Pugh is described at 5’8’’ and weighs 180 pounds. He also has brown hair and brown eyes.

Deputies are asking anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Pugh to please call 503-846-2700.
