Forest Grove High School was placed on lockdown Friday morning after two students reported seeing what they thought possibly looked like a weapon sticking out of a classmate's waistband.

An armed Forest Grove Police Department school resource officer already inside the school coordinated the response of additional officers to secure the area at 10:15 a.m. Friday.

The student in question was located and it was confirmed there was no weapon or threat.

The lockdown was lifted within 30 minutes.

Following the lockdown, an unrelated call led to medical equipment arriving at the school, which may have further alarmed students, according to police.

"Law enforcement along with the general public are at a heightened state of awareness following yesterday's tragedy at the UCC campus in Douglas County," according to a Forest Grove Police Department release. "Forest Grove Police will always take such reports seriously and will take every precaution necessary to ensure the safety of our students and school staff."
