SUTHERLIN, OR (KPTV) -

20-year-old Treven Anspach, one of nine people killed by a gunman on the UCC campus last week, is remembered by a high school classmate as a well-known and talented athlete.

Nick Brewer, who played soccer and basketball with Anspach, said along with being one of the top players on each team, Anspach also motivated his teammates.

“He was always one of the more outspoken guys on the team.  If we got down, you could count on him to try to pick the team up a little bit,” said Brewer.

Brewer happens to also be a UCC student, and would have been in the same classroom in which Anspach was shot, the very next day, at the same time the shooting happened.

“I was pretty angry when I first heard about it, knowing that I couldn’t do anything to help with it,” said Brewer. “I just don’t understand how somebody could show that high a level of cowardice.”

According to Anspach’s former principal at Sutherlin High School, memorial services are planned for Saturday, October 17th.
