Aloha youth football program loses equipment in fire

BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

A local youth football team lost some of its practice equipment in a small fire this past Sunday.

Officials say the fire started outside an equipment storage shed at Mountain View Middle School in Beaverton.

Although the fire was outside the shed, the heat was enough to damage most of the equipment inside.

Vice President of Aloha Youth Football Kristin Volk said they had done a lot of fundraising to acquire all of the equipment after the rising safety concerns associated with the sport.

She added it was hard to see the recently upgraded equipment destroyed.

One the bright side, the players did have their game gear at home so this year’s season will continue.
