HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

Hillsboro Fire and Rescue said a family of five adults, three dogs and one cat have been displaced after a one-alarm fire on Wednesday.

Crews said they responded to the fire around 11:30 a.m. after a citizen called 9-1-1 to report smoke coming from the attic of the house and the sound of a dog barking. The caller thought the dog was inside the home, but later reported the dog was outside in the yard.

When firefighters arrived to the home located in the 3100 block of NW Glencoe Road, they found heavy smoke coming from the attic.

Crews quickly extinguished the fire and had it under control within 20 minutes.

The family was not home at the time of the fire. Firefighters said three people did arrive home as they were extinguishing the fire.

No injuries were reported.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause. No damage estimates available at this time.

The Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross is working on providing the family with temporary housing.
