PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A judge has deemed a Gresham woman accused of shooting and killing her 17-year-old son unable to aid and assist in her own defense at trial.

A judge made that ruling Wednesday regarding 42-year-old Dianne Davidoff.

Davidoff was arrested the night of Sept. 25. Officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 2800 block of Southeast Rosefinch Drive.

Jacob Davidoff was found dead at the scene. Investigators said his mother shot him in the back.

Police have not released a possible motive in this case. However, neighbors described Dianne Davidoff as troubled, fearful and possibly suffering from delusions.

One neighbor told FOX 12 she had expressed fear someone was after her and had purchased a gun several weeks earlier.

During Dianne Davidoff's initial court appearance following her arrest, she appeared confused and had a difficult time communicating with her lawyer.

On Wednesday, she was sent to the Oregon State Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. A status check on the case is set for Dec. 9.

Dianne Davidoff had been arraigned on the charge of murder with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon. She pleaded not guilty and was held without bail.
