SUTHERLIN, OR (KPTV) -

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is helping with a fundraiser for the family of UCC shooting victim Treven Anspach.

The Oakland and Sutherlin high schools are holding a fishing derby called, “Trout for Treven.”

The event is happening on Sunday in Sutherlin, and Cole Rivers Hatchery and Desert Springs Hatchery are providing the trout for the event.

Organizers are encouraging anglers to catch as many fish as possible, and local businesses have pledge donations for every fished reeled in during the derby.

“It’s gratifying to see local and statewide businesses and our agency come together to help support this family,” local District Fish Biologist Greg Huchko said in a release. “Because of the nature of this derby, we encourage anyone who planned on fishing Cooper Creek on Saturday to join the derby instead and fish Sunday.”

More information on the fundraiser is available on the ODFW website, DFW.State.OR.US.
