Passionate, energetic and hardworking. That's how co-workers of one of the nine people killed in the Umpqua Community College shooting are remembering her.

Kim Saltmarsh-Dietz was the caretaker at the Pyrenees Vineyard in Myrtle Creek before she decided to go back to school.

Friends and Co-workers at the vineyard are still mourning her loss.

The owner of the vineyard, Robert Stryk, said Kim was a big animal lover and a hard worker. He said she was going back to school in hopes of making a better life for herself and pursuing her dreams.

Kim and her daughter were both at UCC on Oct. 1. Her daughter made it out unhurt.

Kim's husband also works at the vineyard.

Stryk said Kim's husband rushed to the fairgrounds to find his wife and daughter that day, but learned the terrible news of what happened to his wife.

Stryk told FOX 12 he wants people to remember how kind and generous Kim was and said that seeing their small town rally together in this difficult time has been inspiring.

"What an amazing, energetic woman who would give the last shirt off her back or the last dollar or penny out of her wallet," said Stryk. "You gotta put one foot in front of the other and you have to get back to work. You can't let these things win. The beauty of America is that we always keep moving forward."

A celebration of life for Kim will be held at Pyrenees Vineyard on Sunday at 3 p.m.

A GoFundMe account is set up under Kim's name and money raised will go to further her daughter's education.
