HAPPY VALLEY, OR (KPTV) -

Firefighters rushed to a house fire in Happy Valley after neighbors reported hearing an explosion.

Clackamas County Fire District #1 crews arrived on the 10800 block of Southeast Tyler Road at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday to find the single-story ranch house heavily involved in fire with flames burning through the roof.

Firefighters initially received reports that people were inside the house and a car was in the driveway, so as firefighters worked to control the fire, additional crews searched the home.

No people were found inside. However, two dogs and a cat died in the fire. Two other cats were unaccounted for, as well.

The fire was declared under control in just over 30 minutes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but firefighters said it appears to be accidental.

Portland Fire & Rescue crews assisted at the scene.
