Classes resumed at Umpqua Community College Monday after the tragic mass shooting that took place on campus less than two weeks ago.

Roseburg residents lined the streets as students arrived on campus to show their support.

Governor Kate Brown spoke to the community of Roseburg at the beginning of the school day.

“This is a very strong and resilient community and they will provide the support that the students need to move forward and begin the healing process,” Gov. Brown said.

UCC President Rita Cavin also spoke and thanked Oregon officials as well as the local community for their overwhelming support.

“We feel like we are in a bubble of love,” said Cavin.

Gov. Brown added that counseling services by the National Public Health Service will be provided to any member of the student body or administration faculty.

Ten people including the shooter were killed and nine others were injured during the shooting on Oct. 1.
