WEST LINN, OR (KPTV) -

A man on federal probation for drug charges was pulled over for speeding in West Linn with heroin in his car, according to police.

Investigators said a West Linn officer stopped a BMW going 83 mph in a 55 mph zone at 7:41 a.m. Sunday.

The officer developed probable cause that the driver was under the influence of intoxicants, according to police.

Police said the blood alcohol content of Edgar Madrigal, 26, of Damascus, was .08. A search of his car led to the discovery of 4.4 ounces of heroin and $4,000 in cash, according to investigators.

During the investigation, it was learned that Madrigal was on federal probation for conspiracy to distribute heroin, methamphetamine and cocaine.

Madrigal was arrested on charges of DUII and possession of heroin. Police said additional charges may be filed after the district attorney reviews the case.
