One of the victims of the Umpqua Community College shooting loved fishing, so over the weekend many people honored him by doing what he loved.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife stocked Cooper's Creek Reservoir with thousands of trout for a "fish in" with proceeds going to Treven Anspach's family.

Fishermen were allowed to keep five trout.

The Oakland and Sutherlin high schools helped organize the fishing derby called, “Trout for Treven.”

Some of Treven's teammates from Sutherlin High School were at the fishing event. They said he was a good guy and an impressive athlete.

"He was a nice guy, liked fishing and hunting."

"He was just really fun with everything. He always made people happy. He was always smiling."

"He was just kinda of like electrifying. He was always the kid that would get a fast break and he'd dunk it on the other side, just make people go nuts. Shooting 3's way behind the line. Really fun to play with, really fun to watch."

A classmate said Treven saved her life by moving closer to her and protecting her from the shooting.

A memorial service will be held for Treven, 20, on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Sutherlin High School.
