ALBANY, OR (KPTV) -

The National Energy Technology Laboratory in Albany was evacuated due to a bomb threat Tuesday morning.

The U.S. Department of Energy reported that the threat was received at 8 a.m. Tuesday and believed to be "a credible bomb threat."

Law enforcement was called out to investigate. The research lab's Emergency Operations Center was also activated.

The Oregon State Police Explosives Unit searched the location and said no explosive devices were found.

The National Energy Technology Laboratory is located on a 10-acre campus on Queen Avenue Southwest. According to its website, the lab "supports the DOE mission to advance the energy security of the United States."

The laboratory employs 46 federal and 80 contracted employees. They don't all work on site at the Albany lab, according to the agency.

Anyone with information about Tuesday's bomb threat is asked to call Albany police at 541-917-7680.
