SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Journey drummer Deen Castronovo pleaded guilty to domestic violence charges as part of a plea deal and was sentenced to probation.

Castronovo, 51, was initially arrested in June on charges of assault and menacing. He was then arrested again on charges including rape, sex abuse, unlawful use of a weapon and coercion.

During a previous court appearance, prosecutors said he violated an order not to contact the victim by calling her 35 times and texting her 122 times after his initial release from jail, with messages ranging from apologies to threats of suicide.

In court in July, Castronovo admitted to drug use and said he was crawling up from rock bottom.

On Monday, Castronovo pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault constituting domestic violence, menacing constituting domestic violence, unlawful use of a weapon and coercion.

As part of his plea agreement, the remaining charges were dismissed.

He was sentenced to four years supervised probation and will be required to undergo counseling for domestic violence offenders and drug abuse. The Marion County District Attorney's Office said if he fails to meet his probation requirements, he faces being sentenced to more than five years in prison.
