Questions remain after major drug bust across the area

WASHINGTON COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Local and federal investigators teamed up for a major drug bust across the Portland metro area, but detectives are being very tight lipped about the case.

Two of the spots Fox 12 discovered that were raided are in rural Washington County, but officials said the case spans across the metro area, targeting a large meth operation.

Neighbors were jolted awake Thursday morning in Cornelius by what sounded like a gunshot, but instead was a drug raid down the street.

Witnesses said they saw officers up and down the street, but said they were not surprised where the raid happened.

Undercover detectives with the Washington County Sheriff's Office were just wrapping up when Fox 12 arrived at a house surrounded by children's toys with a broken window on Firdale Road.

A few miles away, there was a similar scene on Farmington Road in Aloha. Deputies shut down the road to search several sheds on property owned by Chong Ha.

Ha said he has tenants in homes around aloha and on the property next to his own house, noting he only knows these people raise chickens.

Sources said deputies found close to 1,500 chickens and other animals, so the Humane Society is helping to remove them.

Officials called this is a major meth bust, but actual scope of the operation is still a mystery.

Investigators would only say that several people are now in custody, but plan to reveal more details about the case Friday.
