WASHINGTON COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

A year-long drug trafficking investigation led to 18 search warrants, the arrests of 30 people and the seizure of 26 pounds of meth, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

The Washington County Westside Interagency Narcotics Team, along with federal, state and local agencies, executed a joint search and arrest warrant operation at multiple locations around the metro area Thursday and Friday.

Deputies said the meth-trafficking organization is based in Washington County and investigators believe the drugs were transported from Mexico and distributed locally.

Detectives said the organization affects five counties and warrants were served at both residential and commercial properties.

Along with the seizure of meth, deputies said they recovered cocaine, 19 firearms – two that were confirmed as stolen – and $90,000 in cash, along with stolen property. The stolen items included a $3,000 bicycle.

As part of the investigation, investigators also uncovered a large cockfighting operation on the 2100 block of Southwest Farmington Road.

During the service of a search warrant there on Thursday, deputies found more than 1,600 chickens, most believed to be used for cockfighting.

More than 60 people were investigated over the last year in connection to this case and the Department of Human Services was consulted several times concerning children in hazardous environments.

Around 20 agencies were involved in this investigation.
