PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Despite a man spending the entire day Thursday on the roof of a southeast Portland home, crews moved forward with the demolition Friday morning.

Bulldozers were out early tearing down the home on Southeast 34th Avenue and Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard.

The house was built in 1909, but a new five-story, 30-unit apartment complex is slated to be built in its place.

The protester who climbed on to the roof was not arrested, at the property owner's request.

Police did arrest four other people, though. Robert Lee West, 50, Scotty Lee Atkins, 45, and Pedro Sanchez, Jr., 53, faces charges of disorderly conduct while Brad Mathew Whisler, 36, faces criminal mischief charges for keying a police car.
