Police: Hit and run suspect accidentally hits Camas police car

CAMAS, WA (KPTV) -

A Camas Police Officer was assisting the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Friday evening to help locate a hit and run suspect at the 6300 block of NE 232nd Avenue.

While searching for the suspect, the officer was hit by a 2005 Dodge truck.

The driver of the truck was Daniel Jones, 50, of Vancouver.

According to Police, Jones was the suspect the officer had been looking for, and the collision had been by accident.

Washington State Patrol conducted an investigation and arrested Jones for driving under the influence.

Jones sustained minor injuries according to police, and was treated at a local hospital.

After being treated and released, Jones was taken to the Clark County Jail.

The investigation is still ongoing.
