ROSEBURG, OR (KPTV) -

Eighteen days after the shooting at Umpqua Community College, the community of Roseburg is finding the strength to heal through worship.

The Douglas County Evangelical Fellowship organized a worship service on Sunday to help the community come together after the horrific shooting on Oct. 1.

Local pastor and Secretary of the Douglas County Evangelical Fellowship Ron Laeger said the goal of the service was to help the progression of healing.

“This is an expression of our love for those that have incurred such harm to their families,” Laeger said.

Community members at the worship service said they wanted to show the victims’ families that they are continuing to support them.

Several local pastors spoke at Sunday’s event and donations were also collected to help those affected by the shooting.
