SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Salem firefighters responded to reports of a three-alarm fire at a Salem business early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters said they received the call around 5 a.m. about smoke issuing from a building that used to serve as a storage facility at Salem Equipment on D Street. Crews said flames were already issuing from the building when they arrived.

Fire crews said it took them about 30 minutes to put out the fire.

Officials said the metal building has been closed for about five years and was already in the process of being torn down.

There is no word yet on the cause of the blaze.

Police had previously closed Hawthorne Avenue from Market to D Street. All roads now have been opened.
