K-9 helps track down assault suspect in Vancouver

Posted: Updated:

Sheriff's deputies arrested a homeless man accused of threatening someone with a knife, thanks to a K-9 who tracked the suspect.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office said a person called 911 a little after 11 p.m. Tuesday to report a man with a knife making death threats. The caller said the suspect also broke a car window and a window at a nearby business.

Deputies arrived in the area of Northeast Highway 99 and 104th Street and encountered James Taylor, 32, who deputies said ran off across the highway and into a ravine.

Deputies surrounded the ravine and then sent in K-9 Jango, who located Taylor in the brush.

Deputies took Taylor to a hospital for treatment and then booked him in the Clark County jail on charges of second degree assault and malicious mischief.
