MILWAUKIE, OR (KPTV) -

The Milwaukie City Council adopted a $15 minimum wage for all city employees.

The resolution passed unanimously Monday, putting in place a $15 minimum wage for not only full-time employees of the city of Milwaukie, but also part-time and seasonal workers, as well as interns.

The new minimum wage also covers independent contractors working full-time under a city contract on city-owned property.

According to the resolution, any city employees not currently earning $15 per hour will have their wages adjusted at "the earliest possible time."

Advocacy group 15 Now PDX said most city employees in Milwaukie already earn at least $15 an hour, but the city is now the first local government agency outside Multnomah County to pass a $15 minimum wage for its workers.
