PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Two men in ski masks carrying airsoft-type guns who were arrested earlier this month in southeast Portland have been linked to multiple Plaid Pantry and Subway robberies in three cities, according to police.

A witness called police at 4 a.m. Oct. 10 to report two men wearing black ski masks and heavy jackets getting out of a U-Haul van near Southeast 51st Avenue and Holgate Boulevard.

Officers responded to the area and contacted the suspects. Police said they were carrying gym bags and replica, airsoft-type firearms.

Officers contacted robbery detectives, who said the two men matched the descriptions of suspects involved in several robberies of Plaid Pantry stores and Subway restaurants in Portland, Gresham and Beaverton.

William Maingi, 19, and Timothy Beers, 21, were ultimately arrested, charged and indicted on multiple counts of robbery.

Both men remain in the Multnomah County Jail.
