An Oryx is back home after roaming around Forest Park

Posted: Updated:

An unusual animal was seen roaming around Forest Park Saturday afternoon.

Turns out, the unusual animal is called an Oryx.

The owner of the Oryx says it escaped through a gate that was accidentally left open.

An Oryx is a type of antelope native to Africa that is extinct in the wild.

The animal has sparked a lot of conversation on social media. Even a Twitter account has even been made for it, @PdxOryx.

A neighbor says an escape like this has happened before, and it is best not to get too close.

The Oryx is back in its own pasture tonight, and the owner says his unusual pets do not pose danger to people as long as they do not disturb them or get too close. However, they could attack dogs.
