A little snow offers brief tease of winter on Mount Hood

There was a surprise on Mount Hood on Monday morning: Snow!

While the snow pretty much melted by late Monday morning, people were still excited to see the early signs of winter, especially considering how sunny and mild it has been over the last couple of weeks.

Joe and Hillary Rossignuolo who were visiting Oregon from Australia and got a chance to see Oregon's seasons slowly change.

“It’s a bit different, but we’ve experienced it before so we knew what to expect and we brought warm clothes in case we encountered cold weather,” they said.

While they were dressed for the weather, not everyone was as prepared. Still, that didn’t stop people from enjoying the outdoors and do a little mountain biking on Monday.

After seeing some of the first snow of the season, many people are asking Timberline Lodge employees if they are going to open soon. One employee told FOX 12 the little dusting of snow they saw Monday morning is just a tease for the season.

Many people are hoping for a better season compared to what we saw last year. A spokesperson with Timberline Lodge said over a 20-year average, Nov. 18th is when they usually get the ski season going.
