PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A babysitter hired through the website Care.com who was accused of sexually abusing multiple underage victims has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Benjamin Nelson, 27, was first arraigned on criminal charges in May before additional charges were filed in August. He pleaded guilty Monday to charges of attempted sex abuse, sodomy and encouraging child sex abuse.

Additional charges including sex abuse, using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct and luring a minor were dismissed as part of a plea deal.

Court documents stated Nelson admitted sexually abusing a boy under the age of 12 and another under the age of 14. Those crimes occurred between January and April 2015.

A third child was victimized between June 2014 and May 2015, court documents state.

In a report from Close Street Supervision recommending Nelson remain in custody pending the outcome of his criminal case, Deputy Keith Fisher wrote Nelson used Care.com to gain access to children.

Court documents state the site has a disclaimer that potential workers have passed a background check, but parents were responsible for hiring the caregiver.

Nelson remained in custody until his plea change, because deputies deemed him a risk to the community.

Nelson had no previous criminal history.

Along with 35 years in prison, Nelson must register as a sex offender.
