OR officials pushes e-cigarette regulations to protect kids

Posted: Updated:

Oregon senator Jeff Merkley is urging government officials in Washington to make e-cigarette regulations to help protect kids.

Sen. Merkley gave a speech on Tuesday saying that marketing tactics used with e-cigs attract kids to use them.

He said that some of the flavors sold are too appealing to children.

Local vapor shop workers said that while they agree there should be regulations on the industry, the proposed changes are too harsh.

“We’re down, we are okay with being regulated, but we want it to be reasonable and we would like to keep our business around,” said Albert Rahm from Digital Smoke.

Sen. Merkley is working with the Obama administration to finalize the tobacco regulations.
