PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Their pledge helped raise $500 million for cancer research, and on Thursday Consumer Cellular was able to present a big check to OHSU.

In honor of Consumer Cellular's two millionth customer, they gave a $2 million check to Doctor Druker, the head of the Knight Cancer Institute.

Consumer Cellular made the pledge back in June and their $2 million helped push OHSU to their $500 million goal.

"We're really looking forward to watching the progress and seeing what they can do and hopefully looking back on this and saying we were a part of something really special," said John Marick, President and CEO of Consumer Cellular.

Since OHSU was able to raise $500 million, Nike co-founder Phil Knight matched it. Meaning they now have $1 billion to focus on research for early detection of deadly cancers.
