SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A man with a warrant has been identified as a person of interest in a shooting investigation at a Salem apartment complex.

Deputies responded to the 4800 block of Cheryl Lynn Way Northeast at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Shortly after they arrived, a man showed up at the Salem Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was treated and released from the hospital.

Investigators learned the shooting took place inside an apartment and one of the bullets went through the floor into another unit with a father and his two children inside.

The family was not injured by the gunfire, according to deputies.

The shooting victim was identified by deputies as 30-year-old Quintin Smith of Salem.

Investigators are trying to locate Raymond Steven Hernandez, 27, as a person of interest in the shooting.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office said Hernandez has a warrant for his arrest on charges of fourth-degree assault and unlawful use of a firearm.

Anyone who knows where Hernandez can be found is asked to contact Detective Chris Bangs at 503-932-3244 and callers can remain anonymous.
