VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

A teenage girl was hit by a school bus in Vancouver and taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The incident happened at 2:43 p.m. Monday at Southeast 103rd Avenue and 10th Street.

Police said there was no immediate word whether the girl had been on the Evergreen School District bus prior to being hit.

The girl was alert and talking as emergency crews arrived, but she was taken to the hospital to get checked out, according to officers.

Police said the bus was also being examined to see if it had any mechanical issues.

There were students on the bus, but no other injuries were reported. Those students were transferred to another bus and taken home.

An Evergreen Public Schools spokesperson said the accident is under investigation.
