PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland Police responded to a report of a bank robbery in southeast Portland on Monday.

The report came in around 1 p.m.

When officers arrived at the U. S. Bank, located at 16002 S.E. Division Street, they spoke with employees who said the suspect ran from the bank with cash. The suspect did not display any weapons during the robbery.

Officers searched the area and spotted the suspect walk out between houses in the 3300 block of Southeast 158th Avenue.

Officers were able to capture the suspect and take him into custody.

He was identified Tuesday at 46-year-old Phillip Nelson. He was booked in the Multnomah County Jail on charges of second-degree robbery, third-degree escape and resisting arrest. Nelson is also under a federal hold for bank robbery.

Detectives said he is also facing charges in connection to a bank robbery Saturday.
