TUALATIN, OR (KPTV) -

A barn used for tours that allowed children to pet farm animals burned to the ground early Tuesday morning, killing a calf and 15 chickens.

A passerby reported flames and smoke coming from Lee Farms, 21975 S.W. 65th Ave. in Tualatin, at 1 a.m.

Firefighters arrived to find the barn fully engulfed in flames.

Despite a lack of fire hydrants in the area, firefighters got control of the fire quickly and kept it contained to the 24-by-42 foot barn.

According to the Lee Farms website, the family owned farm offers school tours and hosts birthday parties and other events.

No people were hurt in the fire.

Investigators determined the probable cause of the fire was a heat lamp that ignited nearby combustible materials. The damage is estimated to be $10,080.
