PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police arrested a man on a number of sex charges after he allegedly attempted to meet someone he believed was a minor for sex.

Officers with the Portland Police Bureau's Sex Trafficking Unit arrested Matthew Shrum, 25, at a home in northeast Portland Wednesday.

According to police, Shrum had been in contact online with undercover officers and never had any actual contact with minors.

Shrum faces charges of first-degree online sexual corruption of a child, luring a minor, third-degree attempted rape and two counts of third-degree attempted sodomy.

The PPB's Sex Trafficking Unit continues to investigate cases of sex trafficking and sexual exploitation of children. If you think someone is a victim, you can contact Portland Police at 503-823-4800.
