WOODBURN, OR (KPTV) -

A man in a car drove up to two teenage girls in the driveway to the Woodburn Walmart parking lot and asked for directions while exposing himself, according to police.

Officers were able to identify the man through the use of surveillance video as 31-year-old Mathew Gressel.

Police said Gressel drove up to the two girls, ages 15 and 13 years old, outside the Walmart store on Wednesday.

He asked for directions and as one of the girls began to answer, she saw that the man was exposing himself, according to police.

The girls ran away to their home and the man drove away.

Police said Gressel admitted to officers that he had stopped to ask two girls for directions to Highway 99E, a major highway on the east side of town. Officers said Gressel lives on the 1100 block of Princeton Road in Woodburn.

Gressel also admitted that he wanted to "pick up" on the girls, according to police.

Gressel was arrested, cited and released on the charge of public indecency.

The Woodburn Police Department wants to remind parents to have conversations with their children about strangers, specifically to never approach a stranger in a vehicle and never leave with a stranger.
