Saint Paul, MI (KPTV) -

Portland’s roller derby team, the Rose City Rollers, beat out the competition this weekend and claimed the Division One 2015 International Women’s Flat Track Derby Championship title.

The Portland team beat the Gotham Girls out of New York 206 to 195 in Saint Paul, Minnesota Sunday.

Both teams were seeded number one after their respective playoffs.

A Rose City Rollers player who goes by the name “Scald Eagle” was voted the tournament MVP.

This is an extra special win for the Rose City Rollers. Sadly their coach Rob Lobster passed away from brain cancer in October.

The roller derby team will be on their way back to Portland to show off their Hydra Trophy.
