Pair of overnight robberies have similar suspects

Posted: Updated:

Two bars were robbed in one night, and now police are investigating to see if the same man is responsible.

The robberies happened within about thirty minutes of each other early Tuesday.

The Portland Police Bureau reported that the first armed robbery happened at Coasters Bar and Grill on Southeast Powell Boulevard just after 1:30 a.m.

The manager of the bar told Fox 12 that a masked man wearing a hooded sweatshirt came in with a hand gun and demanded money. After getting the cash, the manager said the suspect, described as a white man about 6 feet tall, ran away.

The second robbery happened around 2:05 a.m. at Rounders Bar on Northeast Halsey Street.

A release from the PPB stated that at the second crime scene a man also demanded money while armed with a gun, then ran out and took off, possibly in a car.

The suspect in the second robbery was described very much like the suspect in the earlier crime, as a white male wearing dark clothing.

Officers searched the location but did not find anyone matching the suspect’s description.

The similarities have officers taking a closer look at if the same man is responsible. If anyone has information that could assist in this investigation they are asked to call 503-823-0405.
