PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire early Wednesday morning.

Officials said crews arrived at the house at 6405 SE 97th Ave. around 2 a.m. to find flames issuing from multiple windows.

Unfortunately the wind conditions kept firefighters from going inside the home, according to reports.

Firefighters said they were able to fight the fire from outside until it was safe enough to go inside and extinguish the flames.

Fortunately officials said all four residents and two dogs made it out of the house safely and there were no injuries reported.

Fire investigators determined that the fire was caused by smoking materials that were not properly discarded.

Officials said the family was able to get out of the house in time thanks to their smoke detectors.

Portland Fire & Rescue would like to remind Portland residences the importance of having several working smoke detectors inside their homes.
