HILLSBORO, OR (KPTV) -

Nearly 1,300 Intel employees got down and did pushups on the Hillsboro campus in support of military veterans.

Intel organized the massive group pushup event on Veterans Day as part of the #GiveThem20 social movement that asks people to dedicate 20 pushups, sit-ups, jumping jacks or other physical activities in support of veterans.

Organizers also hoped to break the Guinness World Record for most people doing pushups at a single location. The record was 734, but Intel said they had 1,286 employees performing pushups for one minute on Wednesday.

Guinness acknowledged the new record with a plaque presented to the company Wednesday, according to an Intel spokeswoman.

In addition to the pushups, Intel donated $100,000 to Team Red, White and Blue and American Corporate Partners.

Intel was included on the top 100 military friendly employers list for 2016 by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine.
