The driver of a car that slammed into a southeast Portland home early Thursday morning, injuring a passenger of the car, was arrested on a number of charges.

Firefighters said the car crashed into a home on Southeast Jenne Road north of Foster Road around 2:30 a.m. Portland police said the driver, Jesse Allen McCormick, 24, was speeding westbound on McKinley Road when he missed a turn, crossing Jenne Road and crashing through the home.

After hitting the house, the car hit a tree and then came to rest on its side in a metal shed.

There were five adults in the car at the time. One of the passengers, a woman, was taken to OHSU hospital for treatment of injuries that police said did not appear to be life-threatening.

One woman was inside the home when the car came crashing through her bedroom. Police said just moments before the crash, she had gotten out of bed and moved to a different part of the house. She was not injured.

McCormick was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, two counts first-degree criminal mischief, two counts endangering another person, and one count reckless driving.
